The most visible part of
the Eau Claire Children's Theatre is the cast that appears on
stage. There are some parts available for people who want
major roles in productions. There are many more roles for
supporting players and chorus members.
Cast
members enjoy the thrill of being on stage. They also learn
about other aspects of theatre as they are asked to participate in
set building, publicity promotions, loading the show into the
theatre, and clean-up after the final performance.
Auditions
are usually held 6-8 weeks prior to the production. People
auditioning are usually asked to prepare a short reading or song to
perform during the audition. If ECCT is doing a musical, there
may also be a dance audition.
Being a
member of a cast requires a time commitment. Rehearsals are
usually held four nights a week from 7-9pm. Sometimes extra
rehearsals are needed or rehearsals may last longer than
scheduled. The director determines the schedule based on
preparing a high quality show, and performers are expected to be
committed to meet the demands of producing such a show.
Although it can be a lot of hard work, the rewards make all the time
and energy worth it!
